Birthday quilt

Ok, so this is what I have really been working on, now that it's been gifted away to my wee sister for her 18th.

It's pretty huge so it's not all in this pic...

She said she liked it.... she's a pinky girlie girl

These are some of my favourite squares from it

I also had to learn how to do the binding.... I did OK but also learned alot.

I actually found it difficult to be totally honest, Not the task itself, but keeping going to get it done. I mean of course I love the outcome and I wanted to make something lovely for Annie but I hated sewing hundreds of little lines, it became very tedious very quickly. But I suppose that's part of the love wrapped up in it, the task itself makes the quilt special.

OK I will stop rambling and get off. I am really feeling pretty ill so sitting it out today and going to finish my beret and see where I get.

Monster sock and fabric bomb

Well, this was our miserable start to the day (we washed the white dog last night so of course it rained this morning)

Soon brightened up though with a bit of toe shaping to carve out monster sock number 1

With pretty heart detail down the top of the foot

I quickly read this great article and thought I would give the shawl a try, based on the nice and easy prinicples... it's working. (I simplified the design to be literally the basics)

As you can see the laptop had become the new stage for my knitting show, partly because I am lazy, and partly because my other stage (couch) looks like this...

...I call this piece 'The thought process'.

Oh and of course study, but that doesnt make for interesting pics at all.

As promised

finally, and a little late perhaps......
This is the lovelly fabric that I recieved recenly

And these,... well, these were a first attempt without a pattern. I am surprised they stay on his feet. I am now working through the kinks for my pair (wink). They were made with lovelly thick wool fabric, with an insulated sole.... very toasty

Man has big feet as you can see. He likes them and they keep his tootsies warm.

He subtly suggested that it might be time to finish sewing up the nativity as we might want to use it soon. And of course I have to finsih christmas presents for family. Busy busy busy.

Will be doing a pay it forward soon so if you are interested keep an eye open....

Weekend...

I survived the weekend. Helped distribute christmas parcels in one of the Roma communities (yes I did say christmas parcels, but there are 3000, we have to start now or we dont get them all out)

There was ZERO creativity, however, I did discuss logistics of the re-usable shopping bags to sell on etsy so that I can raise funds for the charity.

My kindly mother and father brought oodles of fabulous fabric back from their trip for me. Very lovelly. I will (promise) post pics tommorow.

Right now I am going to bed. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and thanksgiving.

Much goodness

Well, my parcels were (literally) everything I wanted.

My japanese fabric.... so much goodness

The wool I ordered (clearly more balls than just these 2)

More fabric (applique too but no pics)

Not only that, but more goodness today when my patchwork interiors book arrived!

I cant wait to get started on it all. I have a fair few things in mind.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now these little things....
......Are now fully equipped to run round the house, transporting a hungry mouth and a leaky tap. Another week and we will have to hand her over I think.

There's a surprise coming up soon.... for the little few who read this. Maybe next week, depends how things go.

mmmmm..... ikea

So, everyone has it, but I still love it.... ikea fabric

Weekend away

We did a weekend raid on budapest with my folks this weekend. Was fun as my fiance has never seen the city. Plus it meant that I got to do a dawn raid on ikea this morning.

Heh heh heh.... fabric fabric everywhere :)

pics to follow.... seems to be taking ages to load a measly 300 photos

ugh...

All the restraint yesterday and I still flopped the exam today. I give it again in a month. My only consolation is that 50% of the romanians flunk too and they can understand the book to study.

Now I will have to study when uni is back on.... grrr.... I dont have time this year, finishing year of medicine.

Now I'm in a mopey mood and am compelled to browse through the etsy Goodness store. I love this shop and all that is within it. I may finish the new dogs jumper today if I can just to do something with my hands.
