Autumn and string

Yesterday we went for a walk in the park.

I never get sick of autumn when it like this....

Even Muttus Maximus (aka the dog) enjoyed himself....

In other news, I have been experimenting with re-usable bags. I already have many but last night i decided i would attempt making one from jute twine. I got out my size 15's (mm) and disregarded patterns to produce this......

Its amazing. I cant believe how strong it is. It only took a couple of hours to do and it holds more weight than I could fit in it.

So pleased. will attempt another.

I am now sock/glove planning for the new wool I have. everyone seems to be doing 'jaywalker socks' am tempted to give them a go myself seeing as evreyone says they are so great to knit.

Ravelme

Woo Hoo... Ravelry invite present in the inbox when I checked today!

I am now officially in.

so.... ravel me.... I am morepjs

So much to be done and not enough time to do it. I already saw so many things I want to do. I have 2 balls of variated wool waiting for me at my grans place too..... so exciting. its either going to be socks or gloves.

The shop is going fairly well... ok, i havnt been bowled over with orders, but I sold 3 things, which isnt bad for the first week. I just finished a gorgeous vintage 'liberty of london' bag to put up.... when I finished it I thought, 'i dont really want to sell this' but then I remembered my enormous collection of bags and decided it would be a bad way to go... if I kept one...hmmm..... so reluctantly I will list my little baby.

Ravelry anticipation

Hey.... I reckon my ravelry invite will come tomorrow or something like that.

eeeeek.... i know I know.... I am just about last to get it.... hey... someone has to be last... right?

Drops jacket and Christmas laws

This is going to take me forever. After a good couple of hours work.... this is all I can boast about

I am begining to wonder if its worth it anymore... maybe I should just put it aside till late winter to have for spring and get on with my christmas gifts. ... oops and the nativity.

I am having a no christmas till christmas blog protest. I dont want christmas related excitement on my blog till after the 6th of december. Thats Mos Nicolae here, (or St Nicolaus day) when Mos Nicolae (Old man Nicolaus) comes and leaves sweets in the shoes of good children and sticks in the shoes of naughty children. Its lovelly. But for me, thats the start of the christmas season. Other than the brief mention of gift progress I will be otherwise christmas free!

You are welcome to join me (let me know if you do). I am not in any way anti-christmas. I just hate that they try to force it on us everywhere at the end of october.

Alright. Rather a long post after a little lazy week last week. Will be better this week.

singer

I have discovered an interesting fact about Singer. She likes to eat straight pins.... much to my annoyance. Makes my stitching wonky. Fluff.

Otherwise, all is well. My first stuffed toy, Stampy went up last night in etsy. I am very fond of him.

Drops progress is slow to say the least. 11cm of the back done (we shape armholes at 40cm) not only that but that was after 2 nights of knitting... more fluffing.

I realise I still have the nativity to do. But stitching up really bores me so I have to do it in small (baby-like) steps.

Off for a walk. Get some air. Pics later, the cams battery was dead.

no time to blog hello... goodbye... I'm late I'm late I'm late

Whenever I get busy it reminds me of the mad hatter in alice and wonderland.

No blogging today as I was updating my shop. Slowly but surely the items go in. Last night we were setting up, man making banner, me making listings, and as I was halfway through making the second listing (shop has no banner or intro or anything) a girl had already bought the bag I listed. Very surprising and a lovelly boost of confidence for me.

Am making a second drops jacket as my first is inadvertently 2 sizes too large for me. Fluff. new one in lighterwight yarn so its going to take a lot longer.

No other major news. Latest items I made with my beautiful singer are listed in the shop.

Etsy

A quick post to say....

I opened a shop in etsy. Mainly for romanian handcrafts, but also some of my own.

Night all.

weekends

When we dont visit my folks, we take long weekends enjoying the peace in the city as, unlike much of the west, the weekend is for rest, not shopping.

Long breakfasts...

long walks...

and thanks to our favourite cafe.... long coffees and tiramisu

Just quick

Here is is... finally... the drops jacket. Completed. no great pics, sorry and also, it appears to be a little large.... but anyway...

Better pics to come...

oh... and my latest sewing book...

Nothing can teach you to sew like the 50's can!

And finally, the mutt and the mongrel.... battling it out ... for a bottle lid

Progress

Well,

With much neglect of my man, thesis, parrots, dogs and friends, I am finally getting somewhere with the drops jacket....

I was very unrealistically trying to finish it for wednesday morning.... as you can see, halfway through a sleeve on thursday means I didnt make it.

drops and smudges

Well, our temporary little addition has taken quite a shine to cuddling up to my knitting when she can't cuddle up to me. As i was knitting the back piece of the drops jacket, i realised the wool was getting tight, it wasnt slipping easily from the ball. Why not??.... well, lo and behold.... its a smudge on my yarn.

Oh and this is the back piece of the jacket.

And this... dear ones... this.... is my singer.....mmmm

Much goodness

Well, my parcels were (literally) everything I wanted.

My japanese fabric.... so much goodness

The wool I ordered (clearly more balls than just these 2)

More fabric (applique too but no pics)

Not only that, but more goodness today when my patchwork interiors book arrived!

I cant wait to get started on it all. I have a fair few things in mind.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now these little things....
......Are now fully equipped to run round the house, transporting a hungry mouth and a leaky tap. Another week and we will have to hand her over I think.

There's a surprise coming up soon.... for the little few who read this. Maybe next week, depends how things go.

smudge

this is the first bit of knitting I have managed to get done all week.... hindered by one little thing...

She's still so little she needs bottle-fed.

On the other hand, the knitting is going to be a handbag. And today, it seems, I have 4 parcels to pick up...... My list in order of preference as to what I hope they are ; fabric from japan, wool, fabric from US, patches

Pup...and stuff

Well, we managed to get rid of most of the pups..... we are keeping one for someone else... or should I say raising her for somone else.

Little Smudge. She's gorgeous. Wish we could keep her but in this tiny place, its just not possible.

Pics to follow.

Unexpected arrivals

Well.... just thought i would leave this as a wee post in the blog.

Unlike my other arrivals, which were ordered and expected. This poor little delivery was not at all expected.

(just after a bath)

These are the 6 abandoned puppies we have inherited. Our poor dog couldnt figure out what was going on. but he's very good with them.

We arn't sure what to do with them We cant keep them as we live in the city, but we couldnt leave them.

mmmmm..... ikea

So, everyone has it, but I still love it.... ikea fabric

Weekend away

We did a weekend raid on budapest with my folks this weekend. Was fun as my fiance has never seen the city. Plus it meant that I got to do a dawn raid on ikea this morning.

Heh heh heh.... fabric fabric everywhere :)

pics to follow.... seems to be taking ages to load a measly 300 photos
